IDQ12v2 vs. IDQ12v3

I know there are considerable advantages to the version three. But I have a local dealer that’s liquidating v2 stock and can hook me up with an IDQ12v2 for $120.

My only question is, which one do I get the 2 or 4ohm version? I don’t have an amp picked out. But I was eyeballing the Rockford punch series.
If I get a 2 channel amp I cannot run the 2ohm version right? I’m a little confused.

And if I pull the trigger on this sub, can someone show me how to build a box that will make it fit under my rear seat? The mounting depth is 5.75” and my truck is a 05 Supercab.

Thanks

Id run a dual 4 wire down to 2 ohms, its easier to find amps that power to 2 ohms then 1 ohm and SQ will be a little better. Thats if your running 1.

Running 2 id prob run dual 2, wire them to 1 ohm each for a total of 2 ohm load. I think fox box or supercrew builds good prefabs for your truck that fit the id subs. If you dont know what your doing or have wood tools that might be a better place to start.

I got lucky and got my v3 at a steal of a price. Then an arc 900.1 fell into my lap for 100$ 900w @ 4ohm. I love em, cant wait to get my second back, it came in with something wrong.

At that price I'd get the v2s.

The v3 has more throw so it has the potential to get louder than the v2, but at twice the cost of v2s, I'm not sure its THAT much of an upgrade... depends on what you want really.

I have woodworking tools. Are there instructions anywhere on how to DIY a box of that depth. I couldn’t find anything in a search.

The only reason I ask is because a box from supercrew after the added cost of extra depth, and shipping is going to increase the overall cost to the point where id think about getting a SI BMIII and a cheap ebay box that will fit it easily.

I havent seen anyone with a step by step on the box. Its a measure and measure and cut and measure thing.

Kinda depends if you have the time vs the money. A sheet of mdf 24$ + glue, screws, and sealent = ~40$ +time + satisfaction you did it yourself.
