subwoofer not working - 2008 factory navigation

hey guys,

i actually was having some problems with my NAV unit in my 08 harley and so ford ordered me a new one because it was still under warranty... the new screen is so much more clear and crisp but now the subwoofer isn't working

so when i picked it up i was putting my cds back in and noticed that it wasnt working so i quickly told the accessories guy at ford and he checked the wiring and said hes not sure so hes ordering a new one

problem is, i am going on a trip this weekend with some friends and would really like to have a subwoofer that works otherwise it sounds like crap

you guys have any suggestions on something i can try in my driveway rather than waiting till next week to get a new unit put in???

Unplug the harness from the sub at the amp, the main one coming up from under the carpet. At that plug there is a brown wire that is the + rca signal, the red one is the - rca signal. Turn on the HU and set your volume to about half, now connect a DVOM to the brown and red terminals and set it on AC volts. You should get some kind of reading, if not then the HU is not programmed correctly or the sub harness is not plugged into the HU. If you do get a reading, then plug it back in and check the 4 black wires on the other end of the amp that go into the sub box, if you get nothing there them your amp is dead, if you do, then the sub itself is dead.

Oh and make sure there is nothing setup wrong in the HU menu, like the sub turned off or the bass turned all the way down before you do anything. Also check the fuse, its the only 25 amp fuse in the fuse panel that powers the sub, the large 14 ga wire in the sub harness is the power lead coming from the fuse your should see 12-15 volts dc on that wire with the radio on and the engine running.

Report back and let us know what you find out and we can go from there.
