Alpine type R's 5x7

Does anyone have the Alpine type R 5x7 speakers?

I want to order a pair and put them in the front door, Crutchfield says they only fit in the rear doors, whats up with that? do they fit in the front?

I'll run them off the Aftermarket H/U for now...

If you have pair are you happy with them?

The fronts are 6x8s too. The Alpines are good speakers, but since you're running off the head unit, you'd probably be happier with speakers with a higher sensitivity.

By the way, shop around (unless Crutchfield has it on sale it won't be a good price). Sonic has the same speakers for $60 less. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...e+SPR-57C.html

So if your under powering them (for now) you need a more sensitive speaker? makes sense i guess.

I'm looking at the ones that sonic sells and the ones that crutchfield sells side by side and call me crazy but the sonic ones look fake or different lol... could it be?

Crutfield http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_5...h=type+r&ssi=0 (just click on the picture)

Sonic http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictu...picture_id=-1#

The grey is different, the Type R is different, The metal bar on the tweeter isn't level like the crutchfield one.

What do you guys think? anything to worry about or is it the same speakers? I don't know i just dont like getting ripped off...

Yeah, the headunit's onboard amp is going to be the biggest source of distortion, so the last quarter or so of your volume dial will be clipping/distorting. A speaker with a higher sensitivity should be able to play louder without distorting at the same power from the head unit.

The Sonicelectronix ones are real pictures. Crutchfield's are probably Alpine's stock photos.
