cleaning up the front stage
cleaning up the front stage
finally going to upgrade the front stage
tired of these hideous phoenix golds 6.5" components
i just want more midbass and some not so harsh highs, i was going to look at some coax's but figured might as well just get some more components and be done with it. i have a Pyramid PB110PX 2 channel amp i got for free that i'll be using to power both doors, and trust me, that amp will be gone asap! i just want to get some better speakers then get a better power source for them. music ranges from anything from oldies, rock, country, and some rap (demo purposes only). let me know what yall will suggest, and yes this will be going in my 01 f150 supercab, just front doors only, and yes i still have the btl as my sub stage.
thanks!

Whats your budget? If you want solid midbass and cleaner midrange, half of your budget goes toward door treatments and half towards quality speakers. Trust me it works wonders.
trying to keep it under $200
i wish i could glass everything like this build

Well 200 bucks wont get you the sound you want with just speaker replacements. What I'd do is take that 200 bucks and do the door treatments. This should help the PGs sound a bit better for now. Then once you have some more cash, get some quality component speakers in there. Dont do coaxials.
I'm with mSall150 on this one. Properly deadened doors do wonders for all speakers -- even cheap ones.
I followed his door treatment tutorial and properly prepped my doors for my Image Dynamics CTX65CS components. I'm powering them with a bridged 300/4v2 and for the money I have in them I couldn't be happier. The mid-bass is outstanding!

i still have a roll of that peel and seal laying around, i think i'll use it up on the front doors and then i'll order me some second skin and whatever i dont use on the floor when i build a new box, i'll layer it over the peel and seal on the doors. also, i think i may have found some components i am going to get, rf T1652-S hear nothing but good things about them. i'm open to suggestions on power for them too, but that won't happen til summertime possibly. thanks for the help

My suggestion is to save up and replace your amp before you replace your speakers. If your Pyrimad amp is the same amp that I'm thinking it is ( flea market special) you'd be better off replacing that one ASAP, and seeing how the new amp will sound with your PG component set. Also, what source are you using? Stock head? Usually the rule of thumb for getting good sound is start withthe source unit and work your way down. Some ppl might disagree, but , think about it for a sec...if your signal sounds like cr@p from the beginning of the chain, no matter what you do at the end its still going to sound like cr@p.
pioneer deh p5100ub h/u is fine
and i am just running the pg's off the h/u, the amp is a pos probably from the flea market, i got it for free, and was going to use it for a pa but didn't, its not even hooked up yet, i was going to wait and install it when i build my new box and hook up my 2nd battery, then i'd use it on the pg's til i got new speakers and a amp for them.

Yeah, the headunit sounds fine. If you are running the PG's off the head unit, I would wait to hear them on a real amp before you decide to scrap them. I had a pair of Boston Pro's running on headunit power....sounded pretty crappy. Then i ran them off 75watts of JL power...they sounded amazing...b/c they were good speakers. I'd still suggest, buying a 2 channel amp...run your PG's off it, and then save up for another amp and sub, then you'll have a FULL system
ehhhhhh...i wouldnt be too sure about that...lol Have you ever opened up that pyrimad amp? They used to make the heat sinks HUGE and the circut board was the size of an ipod nano, it was pretty funny. You might be still better off running the pg's off the head...but i guess you could give the pyrimad a try and just see.
