Fiberglass MDF box question?
Fiberglass MDF box question?
I've had this box for awhile and decided I was going to change the carpet. Well after I took the old carpet off I noticed a ****ty design in the build of the box. Basically bad cuts filled with glue. I spent a few hours cleaning it off and resealed with some adhesive in all the cracks inside and out. Problem is inside I can't reach all of them SOOOOOOO
I was wondering, would grabbing some resin and fiberglass and laying a few coats over the box help to insure a good air tight box?
Now continue off your answer, assuming it was yes, are these the steps working on MDF:
[1] Lay resin
[2] Lay fiberglass
[3] Lay resin on glass, repeat 1-3?

I don't know how bad shape the box is in without pics, but these products like kitty hair are chopped fiberglass and resin. It bonds well to mdf or cured fiberglass and will add structural integrity if you are filling in spaces between the wood joints.
If you are saying that there are actually fractures in the wood, if it is salvageable, you may need to add some mdf support in the inside of the box and filler in the cracks.
