Questions about JL Audio Stealthbox

Has the JL audio Stealthbox for the 04 and up F150 supercrew always come with the w3v3-4? Or did the earlier versions have a different sub like a w3v2 d2 or anything?

Is the sub in the stealthbox removable?

Does anyone have pics of the bottom side, and the side of the port?

The earlier models came with the w3v2, and the newer models have been upgraded to the w3v3. The sub is removable.

No pics, I don't have the Stealthbox, but would like to get one.

Oh ok, so if you have the older stealthbox, if you wanna get the most out of it would it be best to put the w3v3 in it? Or is there another sub that would be louder, more bass, stronger, etc?

I've seen several case where people have removed the JL sub and replaced it with an Image Dynamics subwoofer and have been very pleased with the improvement.

Cool... So what would be the better set-up: the one 10 ported stealthbox with an upgraded sub like the image dynamic, or the 2 10 set up with a fox acoustic or supercrewsound type underseat box? I'm trying to get the most I can out of an underseat set up. Was originally gonna do the 2 10 setup but ran across guy selling the stealthbox....

The guy who bought my Fox Box with two Infinity 10's in it said that he had heard the console style JL stealth box and that the under the seat setups sounded much better. Not based on my opinion, only what I was told.

I would avoid prefab boxes. You want a box made to the specs of the subs you want. JL has done an excellent job pairing the W3 with the stealthbox. The box was designed for that sub.

Many audio shops can build you a custom box for cheaper than cost of the stealthbox, unless you are purchasing a used stealthbox.

It really comes down to what you are looking for. If you are wanting something that slams, I don't think you will be pleased with the stealthbox.

Rednoved, that seems to be my dilemma. I want something slamming bc I'm use to having vehicles do just that. But it seems that unless I do a bedcut, or take up some cabin space with some kind of custom build, I'm not gonna be able to have anything slamming. Guess that's why I'm trying to decide which will do the most out of those two set-ups I'm trying to decide between.... I'll just do a bed cut later, way later.

Have you looked into seat lifts? You will have a lot more options for under the seat builds if you go that route.

I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I don't know much about audio systems, I'm just in the same boat you are.

Hopefully someone can help you pick a good system out.

I know with a seat lift, you could go with a 12W3 and a box built for it. It would be like having a step up from the stealthbox setup.

If you just want loud and dont care about how it sounds, you could do a seat lift with some of those Fi subs or the square kickers. Bass-heads seem to like that stuff.

Me personally: If I did a seat lift I'd do 2 SI Mags.

I've got the JL 13 TW5 and it blows all of my friends systems out of the water. You will have to get a custom box, 1000 or 750 watt amp, and the subwoofer which is pricey but it is the best sounding sub for our trucks. If you have the money I would definitely go this route.
