jl 13tw5

hey guys in another threat I had mention that my cousin was selling me his 8w7 for some quick cash and now I sold it back to him after he cried for it back.. any way I have another question today I went to a local shop and got some prices that were expected.
First was 1.13tw5 and 1.500/1v2 with box and installation for 1000.
Second was 2.13tw5 and 1.1000/1v2 with box and installation for 1900.
Even though the guy was telling me how much I was looking to spend, it occur to me that I could of gave him a lower number for both quotes. But not knowing how much to spend I simply told him I will think about it and come back. So now if any of you can give some suggestion on which one to go with I will appreciate it. Also I know many of you are against JL for being to overprice, but please don't consider the price but the quality of the items being install thanks and what would you guys pay for this setup thanks..

There are tw5 for sale on ca forum and diyma. You can get em for less and there are boxes on ebay.I am a firm believer in jl, especially their amps. Quality costs, so i dont listen to that over priced stuff, even though it is true in some cases. They are the top of the line main stream, so I dont mind that. Obviously 2 tw5 with 1000 watt amp would be cool. The second price wasnt bad, getting them used will save some major change though. I would go with two no matter what.

I paid $330 for my 13TW5 and $400-ish for my 500/1v2..... both from authorized dealers.

I bought the sub from Car Toys online site and the amp from Extreme Auto in Muscle Shoals, AL. If those were out the door prices that you were quoted it's actually not too bad. Did that price include a custom box as well? Keep in mind that I simply bought the equipment and done the install myself. Most JL dealers charge a ton of money for install and custom boxes -- it seems that they are charging you a fair price.

The price is fair. Their cost on that equipment is high.

yeah for the custom box, I dont know what kind of wiring they were going to use unless it doesn't matter. As far if I bought the equipment and had them install it, it was going to be 200 for the installation, and I found a box that was 200. So I checked out "onlinecarstereo" and I put the same product which total up to 1300+ and 200 for box and another 200 for installation. So it wasn't to bad I will go and try to get it a little lower I might just put out 1400 on the owners desk and see if he says no to cash lol..
