replace 4 door speakers with what?

what are some good cheeper speakers to use as a replacement to the speakers in my four doors?
they are all 5X8 right?

I was thinking of some cheaper sony explodes, or some sound stream ones, but those are like $80 a set.

thoughts?

my stock speakers just are not what I want, I want something capable of a little more.

Prefer to stay under $200, and would like to have something I can pick up local, but for a good enough deal I would buy online.

I am pretty sure they are 6X8 and I want a direct fit replacement, no drilling, brackets or anything like that.

I do not plan on putting a amp on them, but you never know.

Like I said, I know I can get a set of last years sound stream XT-638s for $180 for all four, but I think thats a rip, just paying for a warranty, and I have never had a door speaker blow, ever. They are listed as low as $49.99 on line.

I have a AVH-P3100 DVD, thats what will be hooked to them, and the factory speakers didn't seem to be able to handle the stock Cd player.

even on half volume, I get a good amount of bass distortion, and would like something is a good all around performer.

I know it has a EQ setting and I have it set pretty low, and even thought about turning the HPF on to block some of it.

I would love a set of 10's or even 12's in the truck, thought about a box like some one else did, replacing the 20 in my 40/20/40.
but a Rear under seat mount seems easier, and I keep quite a few things stored back there, as I have to tool box to store my jumper cables, tow strap and tie downs.

I have a Vibe 500 or 600W amp, good amp had it for years, dad was using it to run a set of 15" kicker comp subs and it done pretty well, but now he gave the amp back to me.

Its only 2-4 Ohm stable though.

I just bought the infinity reference 6020cf on line for the front doors and the infinity reference 9633cf 6x9 for the rears. I went to best buy and listened to them, they were amazing so I didn't hesitate to order them. The alpine spr-17s also sounded good. These were recomended to me by sundevil as inexpensive but quality sounding speakers. And he was absolutely right.....Not to hijack, but thanks alot Sundevil...lol

I just put these kicker sets in my 07

front http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...r+DS680.2.html
rear http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ker+DS680.html
speaker harness http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...a+72-5600.html

Everything was a perfect fit, no cutting or drilling needed on any of the door panels. The tweeters even fit perfectly in the front door hole where the factory audiophile tweets went.

I second the Infinity Reference...listened to them a couple different shops and that's what I'm getting, and I believe that Amazon is an authorized dealer and they should be around $67.00 a pair. Or Crutchfield for $99.00 a pair buy two pair get a free amp.

Pioneer TS-D6802R in my doors. Love the way they perform. $85 per pair, shipped, from Amazon. (don't forget the wiring harness adapters)

Did those 6020cs's bolt right in your front doors in place of the 6x8's?

Sundevil: I just picked up a used Pioneer HU for my 08 F-150 and I feel obligated to upgrade the rest of the system some what. After reading many posts by you, I was planning on 4 Infinity Reference 6832cf's powered by the Alpine MRPF300 amp. Will there be a huge difference in sound between the 6020cs's and the 6832cf's in the front doors (I am married with 2 small kids so my days of glass breaking db's are long gone)? If I decide to get a sub, would it be better to run a seperate amp to it or get one good 5 ch that will run everything? Thanks!

Used a 6x8 adapter plate to mount the 6.5 and tweeter in the factory opening. With some minor trimming.
