what do yall think?....im lookin at puttin a sytem in my girls 03 extra cab and dont wanna sacrifice her back seats. So just wondering what would be better..2 12's prolly have to be shallow...or a type R 15" and take one of her back seat?....whats gonna pound more?????

Sort of a silly questions, too many variables to be able to tell. What model woofers? How much airspace to your enclosure? Sealed or ported? Power? etc.
2 12s will have more cone area and likely more air displacement, but under the seats vs. a high powered ported 15 on top of the seat is a different story. I find that girls tend to like a clean sounding system over a ton of distorted bass. I'd do 10s or a 12 under the seat out of the way. She'll like that a lot and its more protected under there. |
monster
Take out the backseat, 4 ported 12,s and put plywood over the back glass so you dont break it......:banana:http://www.hdtalking.com/images/3dSm...ewsmile036.gif

Seriously, for your girls truck a couple tens would be fine.

yeah you can put 2 12s under the back seat but they are def gonna be lacking air space. like everyone said, ur better off goin with 10s.

2 12's should have more output, 1 15 should get lower
There are some 12's that dont require a lot of space but youd have to search. |

hehehe my 12" subs are shallower than my 7" midwoofers in the doors.

Something tells me you're more aimed at building a system for yourself rather than her, lol. I don't blame you, I took the liberty of doing the same thing in my grilfriend's Sport Trac, and ironically she loves it. Nothing major, single 12" shallow Pioneer, 1.2cuft, 35hz tuned port, 300Wrms, sounds nice! Ask her what she wants. If she does NOT use words synonymous with "loud", then a single 12" or a pair of 10's should be fine. If she does want something to bang, then ask her if she is willing to sacrifice a seat. If so, then you are a lucky man! If not, then a pair of 12's should fit underneath. I assume if you want to keep your seats, then you probably have kids or passengers that sit back there, so I'm sure getting woofers to fit entirely under the seats would be a concern. Really shop for shallow woofers at this point, they are not all constructed the same. I have two Rockford P3S's because they are very stout and the basket assemblies don't extend to the bass of the magnet, which lets me build a box that compensates for the lip in the floor and install two of them without lifting the seats. That couldn'e be done with, per say, a shallow Pioneer, Kenwood, Kicker, MTX, yada yada yada.
