6.5 comps in the rear doors?

Bad idea? Indifferent? What do you all think. I dont see many people talking about it on here. I know personally i dont really care about rearfill all that much but i thought about dropping some Cadence ZRS-6K's back there just for the hell of it. Should i just go with a 6.5" speaker only? 6.5 or 5.5 coax's?

Any ideas? Im going to be running a Sundown SAX 100.4 for the mids and highs.

Just run your factory rears off an aftermarket head, should be fine fading towards the front.

I like my soundstage in front of me therefore I only run components in the front, the rears are turned off. Ever been to a concert and stood with your back to the stage?

That said, anyone with experience with components in the rear I am all ears to hear what they have to say!

Thats kinda the reason im curious. In my lexus i have 100% pure Diamond setup all hex equipment head to toe and i actually unplugged the rears cause i didnt want to hear them. The people in the back said they were too loud also.

I dont see too many people on here talk about the rears though so i figured i would see what people input was. I might just swap them out with some sort of factory replacement and leave it be.

So when you guys put in only front speakers do you buy a 4 channel amp to run the 2 front speakers off of and then run the rears on the headunit amp? My understanding is that aftermarket speakers can run at around 3 times the RMS than the stock ones. If thats what you would do wouldnt you spend the extra couple hundred to use all four channels of your Speaker amp?

I have a urban 4ch amp connected to all four factory speakers. I am replacing the fronts with Pioneer Premeir TS-D's 5 1/2 components in the next couple of days and just plan on keeping the stock rears until they blow...lol!!!!!

Been looking at some 6x8 coaxials..pioneers of course "D" series for the rears when the time comes..

I wouldn't spend anything on rear speakers. That money would be better spent on some sound deadening or other mod.

I have always put amped aftermarket speakers in the rear for fill and for the rear passengers, but after my last install, I would have just applied that extra money to a nicer set of front comps. I found myself turning the rear channels down so that they dont pull from my soundstage.

Hope this helps,

I can understand where you all are coming from, but for me I like that surround sound feel. For others, you may like the music to be in front of you, but I put in components in all four doors with the front tweeters in the pillars and the back tweeters in the door plastic and I love it.

I have Alpine SPX-17REF 6.5 inches Component Speakers in both the front and back doors and I wouldn't change a thing...

With the Alpine MRA-F350 5-Channel Digital Amp and the SBS-05DC Center Channel Speakers I have total surround sound... Perfect...

I put a set of Kicker 6.5 midbasses in the back with a 12db crossover at 400hz and it gives a decent fill. Gives the snare drum some depth that my Kicker SS 5 1/4's won't quite get. just my personal opinion. -Dave

This is a very subjective topic, in which everyone has their preferences. Personally, I like full sound to turn up loud and sing something I love in stop-and-go traffic. I'd put coaxial speakers in the rear, no need to spend more on components. Then install components in the front, run a 4 channel to all of them, tune accordingly, and call it good. Now, why coax in the rears and not components, you ask? Because the majority of people who have a full-range system that "involved" have subwoofers to handle the bass, so a lot of bass is eliminated from the doors, or the HPF is set the same as the LPF if not slightly lower, thus eliminating the *need* for components in the rears. Now in that case, why not install coax speakers in the front? Well, the front is your sound stage, the area you will listen to the majority of your music. It always sounds better when your treble is separated from your midrange, and vice versa.
