New guy to audio stuff
New guy to audio stuff
First off, i'm very noob. Sorry for the lack of audio terms.
So im starting to get into the audio part of my truck but, i have no experience wiring subs but, would like to learn how. I was wondering if some could get me a little run down on how it works. such as pairing a sub to an amp. i want to be able to run 2-10" subs behind my seat in my single cab f150. My budget is pretty low only about 4-500 so if you guys could help me pick a setup thatd be awesome. Thanks guys.

dimya.com should be your friend for the next little while reading info.
Also do a search for sub wiring guide. Rockford Fosgate crutchfield 12volt all put out decent guides.
With your budget you would prob be better getting 1 10 or 1 12. 30-50$ in wiring (do a 4g and be done) Box is going to cost you $$ depending on if you can build your own or have to order. Parts if you build are going to be around 30$ for mdf sealent screws carpet. Plus your in alasaka, freight to get stuff shipped there $$ So for hardware your already down to around 350-400 which leaves you plenty for a decent setup.
Start with how much room you have to work with. Get measurements, how deep how wide how tall you can go. Look for some box generators online. Then find a sub that will work best with your space requirements and in your price range. Then find the amp.

OK kool kool. thanks for the info. a few more questions. if i didnt want to fab my own box could i buy a box from my local car audio store that would fit behind my seat or is that usually a bad thing? and then what would you recommend for a small system brand wise ( alpine, infinity, jl, mtx???). I dont want a system to where the whole neighborhood can hear, just something with a little more power, sounds good.
Ok well getting a box really isn't bad at like an audio shop. You will be paying much more then if you were to buy one online. For a small system brand wise. I recommend Infinity kappas, they are excellent sounding and are pretty cheap I believe they are 70 dollars for the pair. I have put them in almost all of my cars and love them for the money. If you want I could look up a system for you and tell you how much it would cost. (I work at an audio shop in MA).
HECK YA MAN! that would be awesome! I have a 92 F150 single cab and i would like the subs behind the seats. Just tell me what kinda info you need and we can go from there. I just went on crutchfield and saw this right at the top. Infinity 1252w.

I honestly have one of those subs in my Maxima and it sounds great for the money. Exactly how much are you willing to spend? Also does your truck have rear speakers behind the seat?

Im wanting to spend around 400 for it all hopefully. The truck is the XLT package so it has 4 speakers. 2 in door and 2 behind the seat. I also installed a sterio in it myself. It was a Pioneer DEH-1100MP.

The advantages of building yourself is that you can build it to fit where you want and the space you have vs whats needed for the sub.
As far as speakers, everyone has an opinion. All you can do it listen to different things at shopsor read reviews. Everyones ears are different so different things will sound different to different people.

Tell me if you can't see that. Thats everything except for speaker wire. That is exactly the same system I have in my Maxima and it sounds great. O I forgot about the reference sub, for this I would look for some deals on ebay they sell for pretty cheap on ebay.

This is only the 4 channel Amp and speakers. The thing is that the sub/ amp if you get the Infinity reference, it will be another 100ish. You should also set aside about 100 for just RCA's, Power and ground wires, and speaker wire. For the power wire I recommend 4 guage. If you cheap out on the speaker wire/ RCA's you will notice a huge difference.
Best of luck

With the regular cab, id ditch the rears and put more money into a component sent for the front.
Also, are you looking at the Single voice coil or dual voice coil version of the subwoofer? For just one 1252 a 1300a might be a better choice.

srry about the delay. that infinity setup looks great. i think im going to do the front speakers and the amp. the fronts are the 6x8's right? also is there a pre-packaged set of wire i could/should buy off of crutchfield or somewhere?
