Components & processors..

What are some good 5x7 components or one that can be put in a 5x7/6x8 spot with an adaptor? With about 100-200 rms.

I plan on getting a Alpine cda-9887 deck with the imprint sound manager. Would I still need a sound processor? If so what is a good sound processor?

Alpine also makes a head unit power pack that increases output power. Could I do that and not get a amp to run the components and just upgrade the speaker wire?

I run these components, they are exceptional. Processing is an aquired use. If you have the loot go for it.RF360 is perty popular.

I have the Polk MM6501 (same as your 5251 except they are the 6 3/4" mid). I love them. I've had them for a year now and the only thing I'd say is in some instances the highs can be a bit sharp, but I got a new headunit for Christmas and am working on tuning it better to help with that. All in all though, I absolutely love these speakers. Great detail. Very clear and crisp. Hope this helps.

I think I am going to do the 5251s with adaptors. Just don't know where I am going to put the tweeters. I don't really want to cut up any panels.

As for a processor, I have no idea if I am going to run one. Don't know if they are worth it or not. Not familiar with them at all. I might just run the imprint manager with the deck and be done. And run the polks off an amp.

They distort really quickly, I have an apline HU and the max volume is 35, They distort at 14. Seriously, much better speakers for the money are out there, and I do agree that the tweeters are super harsh.

Check out the Alpine SPR-17s. I have a set and they really impressed me. I have used a lot of speakers/comps, but I do like these. Loud/Clear and very musical.

To avoid the harsh highs go with a softer tweeter material like the silk ones found in the above mentioned comps.

Good luck and I hope this helps,

The spr17s look pretty nice and a decent price. I'll keep looking.

Found something I like better.

http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/alpinespx-17pro.aspx

I still can't decide on amps.

JL HD 600/4 or Alpine PDX 4.100
JL HD 750/1 or Alpine PDX 1.1000
