What you need is called a line out converter.

you tap into your rear speaker wires, and this device converts it to an RCA signal so that you can run RCA's to your amp. $25 at best buy.

Depending on your amplifier, you can run wires straight from the rear speakers as your signal source. Generally, you'd want to use a low level converter like SunDevil said. It's the best way to go and is best connected behind the headunit because if you ever want to change out your headunit, then your RCAs and REM+ is right there. No need to tear into everything again because you decided to tap your elsewhere.

he has 2 10's and wants to run them using a stock head unit and NO AMP???

Am I reading that right, I think you need to go out and buy an amp. Get a 2 channel amp for your subs and get one of those converters to convert your speaker level inputs to RCA.

I read on here someone wiring up a stock head unit to subs. Do a search. I think he used a 4 channel for his speakers and a 2 channel for his subs, and used a signal processor/converter to get the RCA inputs from the stock head unit.

I think more than likely he's using an amplifier, but didn't mention it. I've seen subwoofers connected to door speakers, they have a filter attached to them. Most people add 8" woofers and only for low frequency extension without the "boom". For subwoofers, you're better off using a monochannel amp because the class design allows for more and better power. Then again, it really depends on how you want your bass, whether you want it in stereo or mono.
