sub placement question...

Ok couple questions here.

I noticed online at cruthfield for the Outfit my car it said the f150/marklt has 6x9's in the doors and 8 inch speakers in the rear. Where are these 8" speakers? and would it be possible to swap these out for a couple of jl 8w7 subs running on a jl 1000/1 amp?

If not how much space is there form the floor to under the rear seats. Would it be possible to fit a box under there?

Thanks a bunch guys!

I wouldnt think subs in the doors would sound good because of it being an open enclosure unless you got specialty subs and did a lot of reinforcment. Im sure you can put a box under the rear seats. Do a search for quad cab boxes. Ive seen lots of posts on them

Im not as familar with the mark LT's, but Ive never seen any ford truck with anything other then the 5x7/6x8 in the doors. The 8's might be referring to the stock sub under the seat.

ah ok, the site made it sound as if there were the 6x9s in the doors, then two more speakers behind the rear seat (like the super dutys) then the sub for a total of 7 speakers. But the way yall make it sound is it has 5. I wonder if I could fit two 8" subs under the seat with out one of the custom boxes. I had one of these in my silverado and it sounded ok, but had its limits.

So the stock sub is under the rear seats??? Hmm interesting place for it, I always thought they would be in the console.

The max mounting depth is 5.5in for sub under the rear seat. Do some research. I have a seat lift and a single 12 with a mounting depth of 6.75in

Not quite correct... The foxacoustics box will give you a mounting depth of 6 1/8" without a seat lift, that's assuming the Mark LT has the same seat as the SCrew. I put a JL 10W3 in the single box and man am I ever glad I did.

I kinda wanna avoid the seat lift due to me and all my friends being well over 6 feet which is part of the reason a crew cab is a MUST. Im worried about head room. So looks like I might have to get creative here. In my extended cab I just unbolted the rear seat for my 12W7, and set across the middle. Now that thats resting nicely in the yukon I need somthing for the future lincoln. Gots ta have my bass. Even though All I ever listen to is country, still like the bass. adds an awesome powerful feel to the music. Whats the mounting hight from floor to the bottom of the seat? I dont mi nd if the subs stick out a bit, but it would be awsome if I could fit a couple 8w7s in a box under the seat, then put an amp on each side for the subs and speakers. SO I can keep it hidden until the power button is pressed, Last thing I need is a broken window and a jacked system.

Thanks for all the help guys. Its hard to plan with out the vehicle in my driveway, But I would like to get a modding budget going here as I have some exterior mods planned too and I wanna get a bottom line.

Hmm, So theres less than 10 inches of space between the floor and seat?

I guess I have to go with one of those under seat custom boxes. What subs can fit in there?

Without a seat lift, there are 2 options I would pursue for the highest SQL (sound quality with ability to get loud). If you want to keep it simple, grab that fox box and throw in 2 IDQv3 tens, nothing will be louder or cleaner under the seat in a prefab.

If you dont mind getting a custom box built (or building yourself) then I'd look at 2 12" Stereo Integrity BM subwoofers.

Or if you really want the JL name, grab a couple 13tw5 subs.

Ok tell me more about the first option, IM not real good with audio. What box will those subs fit in. Whats your reccommendation on an amp? I have a 1000W alpine running the 12w7 in my yukon, but is this to powerful for those subs? I plan on putting in a 350 amp alternator as I also plan on adding a bunch of other accessories to the truck so power is no concern here.

are these the subs yall are talking about?? if so im going to order a couple. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5806

will this box give me good sound?

Yeah those are the subs but don't buy them from that website. I think supercrew sounds sells them on their website

Those are also D2 for dual 2 ohm voice coils. You may want dual 4 ohms for easier power, but depends on the amp you choose.
