Need help with speakers..
In my other car I have a set of Infinity Kappa speakers. I was thinking about getting the same type for my truck but don't know if I should go with the speakers without the component systems or go with just the plain Kappa speakers.
These are the Component Speakers...

And these are the regular Kappa speakers...

Any suggestions would be great.

If you get a high quality component speaker you will not be sorry... Just be sure you do not install the crossovers in the door... I have mine installed under the front seats... No problem with water, condensation, or vibration. I live in the Oregon Cascades where this will be a concern...

Wire them up, get some duct tape and use it to mount the tweeters in different locations and aimed in different directions (try pointing across, pointing at you, etc) and do some critical listening in each position. Once you find the position that you personally like best, then mount them there.

Well that install log is older from about a year ago. My current speakers are Seas Lotus components with Adire subwoofers.

Its not just the speakers you buy, but also the way you install them. You could piece together a system with an excellent install, great tuning, high quality amplifiers, and $40 DIY speakers and it would sound impeccable. You can also take $500 speakers and have them sound like trash if they are not installed and tuned properly. Its all incredibly subjective.
As for rear speakers, its all personal preference. If you are just somebody looking for clean sounding, loud music and want to roll around with your friends, then by all means put good speakers in the front and back and throw tons of power at them. Some people like myself prefer a stage-like presence while driving, the "concert-hall" feel. Rear speakers are not necessary, and all the sound comes from the dash/windshield.
And yes the Seas Lotus speakers sound damn good, and they should with their pricetag. I was lucky and found great prices on lightly used stuff. Most people have never heard of any of my equipment besides the headunit.

FWIW, my '05 Lariat had the Audiophile Sound system (factory) and I did replace just the door speakers (both front and rear) with the Kappa's. Once I got the aim down on the tweeters, (they pivot) it sounded pretty good. Now, just changing speakers isn't going to get you a whole lot, but they did sound better than stock...a bit tighter lows and the highs were noticably better. All in all, I thought it was a worthwile upgrade and the Kappa's were pretty inexpensive and a decent speaker.
Good luck whichever way you go
