WOAH! Dont you dare spend 250 dollars on Infinity speakers!!! You can do soooo much better than that. If you plan to spend $250 on your front speakers I would absolutely go with something like these:

First of all I don't plan on paying the retail price of $250 for those speakers, I probably won't be buying ANYTHING off crutchfield, those were just for references...but I went to best buy and listened to everything they had and really nothing made me say "WOW, I gotta have those"...I went based on reviews that I've been reading online. I've never actually listened to the hertz speakers you're referring to...You're obviously an audio guru based on all your posts and I've seen your album (great job by the way) so are these hertz speakers gonna make me say "WOW" cause that's kinda what I'm looking for.

Would you rank those infinity kappa speakers behind the Alpine type-S series???

Yeah I've had my F-150 since I was 16 (22 now). It was my Christmas present in 2003. It's been a good truck. It's 4x4 but I've never had much use for the 4 wheel drive...I decided to put 22" rims on it back in high school. I did the flowmaster super 40 series the second weekend I had it! Sounds sweet! I also took the 2" spacers out of the rear, put tv's in the headrests (half-*** job but not too bad for a first-timer) and even hooked up a PS2 and made a custom box that I attached to my headboard so I could play video games during our lunch break at school!! But once I left for college at FSU I didn't really care too much about all that stuff. Now that I'm working a 9-5 I wanna find some more weekend projects and this is one of them. I also plan on installing leather seat covers and maybe next year I'll swap out the 22s and go with some 20s and put the spacers back in and throw some 35s on it or something. I ALMOST bought the new 2010 Harley F150, but I like being debt free! I just paid off my 07 GSXR-600 and that keeps me occupied too...so between the bike and the truck I'm trying to find things to occupy my weekends.

The one thing I will say is this, I had subs in my truck back in high school but I didn't read ANYTHING about how much power certain subs can handle and how much power you need outta your amp...blah blah blah...well to make a long story short I didn't have the right set-up, wiring, etc. etc. and I blew a few subs and a few amps during high school. So this time I plan on doing it right!!

Good luck with your truck and system. Once I get mine rolling I'll give ya some feedback. It basically comes down to your budget, and how much time do you wanna spend doing it RIGHT.

msall150,

Let me put it this way...if YOU got $400-$500 to spend on front and rear speakers how would you spend it?!? LOL. I like your set-up that you got going and it's obvious you know your audio equipment so give me the low down, what do I need to go get!

one more question for ya msall150...

that alpine amp shouldn't have any issues powering those subs, right?!? same with the 4-channel, that should be sufficient, correct?!?!

Well I'd take 120 dollars of that and put it toward sound dampening material. Look up my thread on door treatments. This will make a huge difference in the way your speakers sound. You can put in high dollar speakers, but if they are not properly installed and the doors are not properly treated, they wont reach nearly their full potential. So that leaves us with ~350 dollars for speakers. Do you care much for rear speakers? If yes, then get those Hertz HSK 6.5" components for up front and get some 5x7s for the rear (Hertz or ID if you can find a deal).

If you treat your doors and get those Hertz in there with at least 100 watts per side it will sound fantastic. FYI I dont have rear speakers, I want the sound stage in front of me.

If you PM me your total budget and goals I will put together a system that I personally think will greatly exceed your expectations.

It sounds like you got yourself a pretty nice set up.

I've pretty much narrowed down my set-up with the help of msall150.

I'm going with hertz 6.5 component door speakers (FRONT ONLY). I'll power those with a zapco ref 360.4 or ARC KS300.4. At this point I don't plan on running with any rear door speakers (I'll probably buy some and install them when I go to sell my truck, but for now they're not necessary)

I was going to go with the JL Audio 10's but msall150 convinced me to go with IDs, and after checking out some of the audio forums I think that's a good move. So I'll have 2 IDQ10v3 (2 or 4 ohms) depending on the amp I power them with. I haven't decided what amp to use to power my subs but I'm either going with the Alpine PDX 1.1000 or the ARC KS1000.1.

I'll be ordering all of this stuff next week. Me and my buddy will be installing it in a couple weeks. Should be a fun project!!
