Trying to match a sub with my amp.

I have no time, no space, and no money. Sucks, huh? Anyway...

I picked up the following amp (new) on eBay for dirt cheap, so no flaming please:

Fusion Reactor 900W Monoblock Amplifier - RE-AM90010
Variable LPF (40Hz-160Hz)
Variable HPF (40Hz-600Hz)
Crossover selector switch for easy selection of filter
Output RCA terminals for daisy chaining audio signal in multiple amplifier installations
Plastic endcaps incorporating mounting feet for cleaner installation
45deg angled power terminals-accepts FUSION 4 gauge amplifier kit cable. Easy to install - not crimped terminals on cable
45deg terminals for speaker connection - accepts 8 gauge cable. Easy to install - no crimp terminals on cable required
3-Way protection- thermal, short circuit, output short
Bass Boost @ 45Hz: 0dB / 6dB / 12dB
Frequency Response (-3dB): 10Hz - 250Hz
Fuse Rating: 30A x 2
Input Impedance: 20K
Input Sensitvity: 0.2V - 8V
Max Power Rating (Watts): 900
240 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohms
350 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 2 Ohms
Signal to Noise: >87dB
THD @ Rated Power: 1% (100Hz)
Variable Low Pass Filter: 6dB / Octave

I have been searching forever for a sub, due to the space limitations. I'm building a custom box, for under the rear seat of my '06 SCrew, based on another post. I should have approximately .7 cubic feet of airspace and 5" of mounting depth when complete. This is for a single 10" sub.

Would the Alpine SWS-1043D be a good choice to match with the above amp?

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...&lang=en&tab=F

I'm thinking I could wire it so the amp sees 2 ohms. If I don't like how that sounds, I could try for 8 ohms, but not likely. Maybe I should just go for the 2 ohm single voice coil???

I know... I'm a cheap ***...

Thanks in advance for your recommendation.

Edit:

Almost forgot... This is a great calculator for those of you trying to build your own box, if you haven't seen it already.

that sub is what most shops were trying to sell me cause i had limited space too. i hear its a pretty good sub and it hits hard from what ive heard.
nope you will not get more bass out of that pioneer sub

and IMO that sub will not "hit hard"

Ok, but am I really going to find a sub that will "hit hard" that meets all the restrictions that I have? I mean, .7 cubes and 5" mounting depth is not a whole lot to work with.

i have 2 10 inch p1s from rockfordfosgate and i love them. they sound very clean. idk how just 1 would sound but i like mine.. it only 4 7/8" mounting depth and need like .5-.85 cubic feet of space. also there pretty cheap subs. i would look into them. just my opinion though.

It looks like those Rockfords are only rated at 150 watts rms, so I'm probably going to get the Alpine.

I still appreciate the input though. At least you've reaffirmed my notion that I'm pretty screwed with my setup and the restrictions that I have. I'm sure no matter what I get it will sound at least a little better than what I already have. The amp, sub, sub-box, amp install kit, and distribution block is only going to set me back about $200, so not too bad. I'm a cheap ***, remember...

Oh yeah... Forgot to post what I do have:

Pioneer AVIC F700BT Navigation Audio/Video Receiver
Profile AP 1040 80watts RMS x 4
JBL GTO8607C comps in each door (4)

I put the matching comps in the rear so my buddies would hear the same quality sound that I do. Gotta take care of my boys...

As you can see, nothing that's really expensive, with the exception of the HU. The sound quality is really good though, but lacking just a little bass. I listen to all rock music (classic through new stuff) anyway, so I don't really need the window rattling bass anyway.

I'll let you know how it sounds when I get everything installed.

Thanks again to both of you!

Regards,

Mitch
