silicone ?? YES OR NO

Quick I have been reading about how silicone will hurt the surround on a sub.. Is this true... I used liqued nails on my box ( boxes ) ... It takes forever to dry. What about 100 % silicone rubber..? I just thought I should ask ? Right now my sub is screwed down and I used weatherstrip to seal it , but people say it will blow out ... What do ya think ??

As far as for the wood to wood edges of the box I personally use weatherproof tightbond II wood glue.

i glued and screwed my mdf corners together and then ran a nice bead of silicone around all the interior edges. for around the subs i just cut the holes barely big enough so the subs create the seal there.
