Do 5x7's and/or 6x8's fit in the '09?

Yes, the front and back doors use the standard ford 6x8/5x7 speaker used in most other ford vehicles.

These are the 2 pairs I am considering. 5x7 Alpine SPR-57C's or 6x8 Pioneer Premier TS-D802P's. Both have great reviews. But I was told the 6x8's may be to big becuase of the mounting depth. I plan on getting a set for front and back. Gonna go with just speakers for now and amp later if not happy. Any input on these?

Crutchfield says both those speakers will fit. I have the polk db's had them with stock radio and now they are amped with Alpine h/u. Very good all around speaker with decent bass for the size. What will you be using your speakers with? Factory unit, aftermarket, or amped? The Pioneers seem like a good value for the specs. They look like they would have a broader all around range and good bass. The Alpines will also sound awesome but they will be 100 more for 2 pairs and might not have as much "boom" as the Pioneers. This is based off the ratings and what I have expierenced with both brand of speakers.

Goin with factory h/u. Found both sets online for about $85 a pair, brand new, factory sealed. Will amp later if I'm still not happy. Then even possibly an amped sub down the road. As for the ratings, larger the number for the frequency response, deeper the base?

You'll want to amp the Type R's if thats what you end up with.
