Mounting Components
Mounting Components
I had my crossovers mounted in the doors originally but the velcro came loose and they started to just rattle around. I searched all around my truck for a place and this is what I came up with.
To begin with, the best place I found was below the dash tray but above the radio, as my crossovers fit in here perfect.

Only problem was the hole there, and I had to find something to mount them to. Eventually I am going to get something permanent that looks better, but this is what I came up with for the time being.

I took some measurements and cut an old license plate to fit, and put some cardboard between it and the dash to keep vibrations down.

The speakers are held on the the license plate with industrial strength velcro. It may not be the prettiest thing, but it is covered so nobody will no it's there and it functions perfectly.
This is where my tweeters are mounted:

And since I've seen plenty of posts from people asking how you get wires through the door, take a look at this:

If you pull one side of the grommet out and compress it, you can feed wires right through with your fingers, makes it a much simpler task.

A lot of people have the molex plug (trucks not built at the Kentucky plant) which makes running wires through the door much more difficult than just compressing the rubber loom.
Also, are you running these components off an amplifier? If so, thats a lot of extra wire to run all the way into the dash and then back out into the doors. I think it would be easier to just put the crossovers next to the amplifier. If you're not using an amp then the dash is a good spot though.
I like the tweeter location.
