Budget Components?

Hey guys.. I swear this will be the last audio question, lol.. maybe

anywho.. I'm looking for a good set of front components.. I remember a while back I was told to go with some Polk mmc6500s, but it doesn't look like that exact model is sold anymore.. I'm looking into some mainstream brands like Alpine, JL, and Polk.. dunno about the rest, but I'm open for suggestions.. and I'm looking to spend between $150-200..

The Alpine SPX-17REF seem to be pretty popular.. and not too harsh on the wallet at $180.. It looks like I plan on doing most of my shopping through www.sonicelectronic.com as it seems like they have a fairly reputable site. I'm looking to get the most bang for my buck, so let me know what you guys think!

Are there other sites I should look to shop from? I've seen onlinecarstereo and woofersetc.. Whats your favorite?

I have the Alpine type R comps. I think they are SPR-17S ro something like that. They sound very good. I have had a bunch of different speakers in the past to include sets of more money, but I do like these.

Door prep is definately key in this also. mSall did a right up on his doors. I would suggest some things along this line. You would be shocked what proper deadening/sealing will do to an otherwise weak set of speakers.

Good luck.

Dude pm me a total budget and I will build you a sick system that all of your friends will be jealous over. I'll make it to where it sounds crystal clear but will still get loud when needed!

I have the Alpine SPX-REF17s and they're awesome... I have these component speakers in both the front and rear doors with the crossovers under the seats... I can crank up the power and no distortion... If you can get them for $180 a pair jump on it...

You may be able to see one in the door...
