Probox For 04-08 F-150

I got home today and had a package waiting on my doorstep! My probox loaded sub enclosure! I will be doing a full review of it sometime next week after i get my install done. but first off I must say it came packaged very well took me almost 15 minutes to get it unpackaged lol.

The package weighed in at 97 pounds. This model is a custom fit, PORTED! sub enclosure. They have two typed of enclosures loaded and unloaded. the unloaded enclosures are not ported. The loaded enclosure for the F-150 comes with (2) 400 watt RMS 8" Probox branded subs. Other models for other vehicles have 10's and 12's. For the F-150 enclosure they guarantee the new (2) 8" loaded ProBox will deliver more bass than any (2) 10" or 12" sealed downfire enclosure on the market. This enclosure also fits WITHOUT a seatlift. Anyway as i said before i will be doing a full review after the install with installation pictures and video of it in use..

I'll be powering these with a 500watt rms @ 2ohm amp for the time being..

Their website is www.proboxrocks.com

here is a pic of it just after i unboxed it.

Was test fitting it in the truck this morning. Fits very well. No seat lift needed. (Note: once its pushed to the back and installed you can not lift the seats up.) the recessed areas where the speakers are, with the seat down act as a horn to project the sound out from under the seat.

I forgot to mention previously that the box comes coated in their "Armor Coating" which is almost like a bedliner coating.

I don't like not being able to lift the seat up. Looks decent, but will await your review.

What did you pay for the box?

You pretty much wont be able to lift up the seat with any under seat box. and i'm not sure of the exact retail. This is a demo unit i'm going to be reviewing for probox.

I had one of their boxes for my regular cab when I had 2 10's. Great quality.

Nice box!

but I dunno about that gurantee of it delivering more bass than any 10" or 12" downfire box on the market.. from the looks of it, the Fox Acoustics, Fox Box, could probably blow that thing away. It fits 2 10" subs with a 6 1/8" mounting depth.. I can only imagine the combo of subs you could throw in there.. and it looks pretty sweet too...

anywho.. congratz on the new box! I'm still debating on what to get myself.. my 8" Audiophile sub is still banging pretty hard.. lol

No worries - I just realized you and I have different rear seats - I have an 09....and my seats will raise with my current box ( my seat back doesn't move).

And awesome about getting to demo. Maybe you can keep it afterwards!

their guaranteeis about "sealed" downfire boxes... gotta keep in mind this is a ported box too the fox box isn't maybe that will help it =) you gotta remember some of the subs that would blow it away still have to have the correct air space to work properly

Ok I did finish my install today... And i will say WOW... for 2 8" subs they do pound.

here is the list of equipment

Head unit: Sony cdx-f7700
Alpine 40 x 4 channel powering door speakers
Bazooka BA1500 mono amp 500 watts rms x 1 @ 2ohms
Loaded probox with 2 4ohm SVC 400 watt rms subs

Ok final results...
As for the box design Its a perfect fit. I like the anchoring tabs that stick out from the side of the box (it comes with (2) self tapping screws to anchor the box in). The front of the box sticks out from the front of the seat just a little but is necessary air space, there is still plenty of room in front of the box for the floor mat to fit nicely. I also like the etched in logo on the front of the box kinda gives the box a little style. The black armor coating is almost like a bed liner coating, it is coated on the inside of the box also.

as for the speakers... I was expecting dual voice coil speakers ( just an assumption ) but the probox subs are single voice coil. they come in 2ohm and 4 ohm Mine are 4 ohm wired for a 2 ohm load at the amp. they are 400 watts rms a piece. they have a aluminum one piece cone and ribbed rubber surround. not sure of the exact specs but the magnets on these are HUGE!

For the amp they recommend using an amp with "Bass Boost" and a 12 to 18 dB boost at 45 Hz with the crossover point at 90 Hz and down

Over all i was skeptical at first, I have owned a few pair of 8" subs in the past but none rated over 200 watts rms. The most recent subs were 10" kicker CompVR's 300 watt rms in a center console box. It take some adjusting of all my settings on my amp and head unit to get everything set right but these subs Hit very hard. I would say they are louder than the kicker 10"s I had. If taking out your rear seat to build a huge box or lifting your seat is not an option this is the way to go. Again no seat lift was required.

I was VERY impressed with the bass from this box and sub combo, And was also surprised by some of the low notes they would take. This puts out enough bass to vibrate my outside mirrors and was bouncing cd's laying on my dash lol. i would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a LOT of bass wiithout a HUGE box taking up room.

I hope this helps anyone thinking about getting a probox

I Did some tweaking with the eq on the headunit today and had some good old miami bass going. Had all windows down and was making cd's laying in the tray on the dash dance lol Even walked about 30 foot away from the truck and still had LOUD clear bass

Even laid the remote to the stereo on the roof and was vibrating!

Tested with the windows shut and was blowing the vents on the rear of the cab open lol

I just to have to add I am SUPER impressed with these subs! I Truly had my doubts but these have totally changed my thoughts about 8" subs!
