Ok, Which sounds better?

And let's say I have a $125 limit. What would be a good buy?

I would say it more depends on the quality of the speaker

 

Some good speakers in your $$ range are..

Infinity (Great mid-range speaker)
Polk (Have a lot of 'highs' in them)

Alpine should stick with making HU's. Their speakers are nowhere in comparison (in quality) to what their decks are.

Just my opinion...

Ditto the captain and beachcruiser:
Round speakers can take more power and distort less, in general.
Alpine makes excellent product if you're looking for HU's.
Infinity, Polk are consistently bought by folks looking for excellent sound. But they need power, so you must feed them.
