Post Replacing system without butchering?

I have an 01 and the sound system bites....I mean the "heche en mexico" speakers are not cutting it.
I really dont want to ad an amp or crazy subwoofers.

Are their any speakers on the market that will sound a bit better than the factory ones and still retain the same head unit?
If so can i have some brands and model numbers?

Thanks

NOSTROMO,
I replaced the factory speakers with Blaupunkt 3 ways model PCxt573, paid 49.95 a pair. purchased them at www.crutchfield.com
& crutchfield includes the wire connecter for the speakes, That way no need to cut any wires. Although I am using an amp now, I did have them running off the stock HU for a week or so & they souned really good to me. But to be honest just about any aftermarket speaker is going to be better that the factory P.O.S. Best thing is to go to some stores & listen to different speakers & get the speakers that sound good to you, after all you are the one listening to it.

Almost any aftermarket 5x7/6x8 will sound better then the stock ones. My vote is for the Pioneer 6x8's w/ that swivel horn tweeter. Not sure model number exactly. But it's great, especially with mids and highs. If you want do some fabrication you could install components in the front. And that doesn't mean 'butchering'.

Why don't you come up to the Jersey meet at Hooters on Sunday the 20th. Theres gonna be alot of us there and I'm sure a few of us could help you out.

Hey I just replaced my stock speakers this weekend and what a difference it made. I went with boston acoustic 5x7's, they fit perfect, and sound good with no amp.

5x7 and 6x8 will both fit. Pioneer measures them as 6x8 most of the time, and other companies size them as just 5x7/6x8 speakers.

i have a pair of mb quart 6 1/2 in my front doors. i was running them with stock radio for about a week, sounded pretty good for stock. but trust me you will want to upgrade your head unit. i recommend the kenwood excelon kdc-x817 this stereo pushes them very well!!! and clean without adding a amp
