Front door replacement speaker help .....

I'm going to have the door panels off this weekend and want to replace the front door speakers...what size are they and what brand would be decent but not too expensive...thanks for any suggestions. The truck is 2001 supercab and the stereo is stock.

a 5x7 or a 6x8 speaker is the same size-its just how they mount is different. most manufactures put extra mounting points so they dont havta make two same size speakers.

I live by this rule when buying my speakers.

If the company makes a headunit, dont buy the speakers.

There are exceptions but....

Grab some JL C5's

That's an interesting rule. Do you mind explaining why. I've never heard that one before

Its something that an installer friend of mine told me YEARS ago and It has served me well. I don't pay too much more for my JL or whatever over pioneer or alpine and I feel that I have gotten a better product.

Thats a silly rule. Alpine makes excellent head units, and their ScanSpeak based Type X components are some of the best money can buy. Pioneer also makes great head units, and their PRS components have been getting great reviews.
