Well I broke down and spent some money. I went to Crutchfield.com last night and ordered four, Sony XS-V1650G, 6.5 inch 3 way speakers for my doors. Then I figured what the heck and bought the Sony Xplod CDX-C7050X headunit to match. I'm excited. I'll post on the quality of the whole experience and the installation. That should be pretty straight forward.

Please let me know how those Sonys fit. I'm looking at the XSV1621's myself. And I'm also looking at the CDX-5000X Headunit. Thanx

Wow. I'm very impressed. Well my speakers showed up last night. They were packaged in a big box that came with a wiring harness for the cd player, a DIN tool required to take out the factory CD player, all the mounting brackets, and a nice booklet with step by step instructions on how to install everything. I'm supposed to get the head unit when they get a shipment. I'm so excited. So to everyone out there I would suggest going through Crutchfield. They got my business next time I need something.

As for the installation, it was easy. Very easy but not so clean. Ihad absolutely no problems with cleareence for the back of the speakers. The rear speakers were the problem. There is not much room between the metal door frame and the plastic door panel so the panel bulges out a little bit. I don't mind. Also, I'm not sure which wires are negative and which are positive. Other then that just drilled 2 holes per speaker and through them in. Very good sound. Not so much base with the stock head unit but once I go to the Sony one it should hit quite nicely.
