Regular cab system
I am in the process of puting a stereo system in my truck. Today I had half of the interior out, to run wires under the carpet, and to mount my amp under the drivers seat. What a pain that was, mounting the Amp under a captains seat.
The questions I have are.
(1) does anyone make a kit to mount a single din radio in the dash that doesn't have that cutout above the radio in it.
(2)I am planning to use Boston Acoustics Pro Series 5.5 series components up front. In the rear I plan to use just the a set of woofers from the pro series 5.5, with no crossovers for rear fill.I was told that this would work, any opinions on this. I can buy just the woofers for around $200.00
(3) I plan to put a single 8" JL Audio Micro sub behind one of the seats. Will have to see which seat I like the sound better. They make 2 one is sealed and the other is ported. Have any of you installed on of these JL subs, and how do you like it.
I will be powering the system with a Alpine CDA-7843, running through a ADS P640 amp, 40 watts X 6 channels.
Any sugestions, or advice would be helpful.
Thanks
Don

about the subwoofer options.
You may get some ideas.
Why don't you want to go with 2 Audiobahn 10s?
They would cost you LESS than the 1 8" JL micro sub that you are considering.
Also forget about rear fill in regular cab, the subs will give you all the fill you need.

You dont need rear fill in a regular cab. Most of the time the subs will cancel out any rear fill(MOST OF THE TIME).Put the money and work into building a strong front stage instead.I would also thank about going to a single 10inch sub instead of the 8inch.It doesnt sound like you are a bass head,You just want some low range sound,am I wright?I thank you will end up putting the sub behind the passenger seat because 1st you wont have it pounding on your back all day,2nd the sound waves will have a chance to reach their full potential ooOOO before reaching your ears, having the sub right on you doesnt always mean louder!Ported boxes if tuned to match your sub will give you louder bass but a sealed enclosure will have better sound quality but require more wattage than a ported one to reach the same loudness. The differences between the two might not be noticeable to the average listener. Also ported boxes require more volume(larger box) than the sealed.

Thanks for answering my post.
I got the head unit and the 4 speakers in, sounds great so far.I am still trying to decide on what to do for the sub.
The reason I am thinking of a 8' sub, id JL Audio Micro Subs will not steel to much room behind the seat.
This spring I will decide which sub to put in.
About the Amp, I forgett what it cost me , I bought it 3 years ago. Had it in my last car, but I remember it wasn't cheep.
