Definately Down

I had Up before and the seats absorb all....

Down sounds better because the floor doesnt absorb it, it reflects it.

You are going to prob fined a mixed review of this. Just like any speaker facing it towards a wall or surface does not help it's audio properties. as an example dont face your home sub woofer towards a wall or into a corner. It makes the sub sound a lot more boomy than it would faceing up into empty space and it will lose a lot of it's tightness and SQ. I have tried both and i cant stand the boomy bass but some people love it. I rather have SQ over boomyness. But thats a choice you have to make.
