Humming comming from Sub?!?
Humming comming from Sub?!?
I can turn my volume all the way down on the headunit but i still get a humming from the sub. If i lightely press on the face of the sub it stops, but once i let go it starts vibrating again and humming. What causes this? I never had a sub do this.
Weird.
So are you sure that you are not just stopping the sub from moving when you push on it? im sure your not but just thought i would ask..
Also where is your amp grounded? and what size wire are you running on your pwr and gnd.?

If you have your RCA's from the radio, and Powerwire from the battery, running down the same side of your truck, THAT would be engine noise. I would just buy a new set of RCAs and run them down the other side of the truck. Un hook the old RCAs from the amp and radio, then hook up the new ones. That will fix your problem
Dont worry about it, its extra Debezzz!!!
Honestly, Im not sure. "engine noise" does not present its self in subbass frequencies, its too high pitched. I know you are changing the impediance of the sub when you press on it. Have you tried a different subwoofer? Have you checked the wires? You very well might have a slight abrasion in the RCA.

my roomate has the same problem in his cherokee he has one of my crossfire amps pushing 1 jl 15w3v2. weve tried new ground, 2 new sets of rcas, checked all the wires we even tried the 15 in my truck and no noise the only thing i can think is my amp going bad or the headunit rcas outputs are shot? what do you all think? i havnt checked inside the sub box even though i tried it in my truck yet.
LMAO, more debeez!!
So can we get some more feedback from the Guy who started this thread... We Can't help someone without communication.
I have a feeling for some reason that we have a 1/0 gauge power wire and a 16 gauge ground. Or my personal fav, the ground wire run all the way to the battery.

I had 3x memphis 10's and it never did it before. I didnt do the install, but the ground is not out to the battery. Rca's run from the headunit to the crossover to the amp. Its not 0 guage wiring, looks to be 8ish. I was a little disappointed when i say the smaller guage, I always do a 4g minimum when i do my own stuff. This time I was lazy because i never built a box so i had a local shop do it that has done other stuff for me.
I do not know where the ground is, they routed all the wireing through the back wall and down the side, then mounted everything to the back wall. Havent wanted to take it all out to mess with it.
This humming only comes when the headunit is set to 0, its almost like the sub is still getting some sort of signal but not enough for it to produce sound. Its not engine noise, i thought it was my exhaust tone, thats what it kinda sounds like, but it does it when the engine is off.
