I have had the same thought as you, to create my own, because I do NOT want to spend 200 dollars on the seat lift. I've contemplated using L shaped hinge type pieces, but have never tried it. I'd really need to see a picture of the actual LMI lift, before install from all angles to see how they made it.

I'm not sure, I've tried to get my dad to help me build something for it, but with no real picture of the item, it's hard to.

if u know what the lift does, cant be too tough to weld some brackets, measure, drill some holes, longer bolts..hel get some 2"square tube, that would be real simple,no welding

This sounds really bad of me, but if you do break down and order the kit. Please take pictures of it, before the install so I can just make something myself(or attempt to).

well im not going to do the seat lift. the guy who i have bought my prevoius enclosure from said he will not build me a sub enclosure bigger then what fits under the seat at factory height cuz he seen 2 trucks that had the seat lift and were involved in front impact collisions and the rear seat ripped out of the back and smashed into the front seats. thats all i needed to hear to make up my mind. now with a kid on the way, im not even gonna touch the seat. gonna leave it factory and get a box that will fit right under there/

the factory seat bolts are hardened, prolly 10 grade,if you use hardened bolts, properly install, mount the box down like ur supposed to when in cabs or suv, then that isnt an issue. i can respect the desision, ur builder must have seen some things not done right, that issue is very easily resolved.

That's too bad, but I respect the decision. What subs are you going to have?
