Hey all, here is another factory sound system question. I installed an aftermarket HU, bought all the adapter harnesses and hooked it up. All works except instead of just bass coming out of the sub I have all sound coming out as well. Could anyone let me know if maybe there is just a wire I gotta cut or something in the harness or what your thoughts are. Thanks.

Depending on what deck you bought and replaced the factory one with, you will need to set up the high/low pass filters on the deck to take away the high's from the sub and just send the lows.

Does your deck have a dedicated sub output? If it does, then you shouldn't have a problem doing this. If you are using a front or rear output on the deck, you may have a little more difficulty removing the highs from the sub, but it can still be done.

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply. It is a highend clarion unit. It does have a separate outlet for the sub, would the settings for the high/low just be like setting up bass/treble stuff like that, thanks.

1st make sure you have it hooked up to the dedicated sub output. That by itself should solve a lot of the issues.

2nd no the bass and treble settings don't apply to the sub output. They are going to apply to the rest of the speakers in the car. Look in the manual for Hi Pass and Lo Pass filter settings. Play around with them until you get the sound you want.

Depending on the setup, I sometimes run the Low on 80hz and the High on 120hz if you have the choice. But each person of course has their own preference. Play around with the filters a bit to see what you like best.
