yes you can fit components in the doors in the stock locations, and yes that is where the factory audiophile tweeters go.

amp your speakers........
Tweeters are only going to add highs to your music, with out a crossover not really a point in putting in tweeters IMO.

a crossover essentially filters the sound between the highs and the mids on the speaker. Most component sets come with them included.

A 2 way set up has a tweeter and a mid range speaker for each side, where as a 3 way set up has a tweeter, a dedicated mid bass, and a mid range speaker for each side. Component speakers have a separate tweeter and mid range driver where as a coaxial has it all in one speaker instead and no crossover.

There is also 2 way, 3 way, and 4 way coaxial speakers. If you look at where the 1 tweeter is, there is actualy 2 (3 way) or 3 (4 way).

Yes, it probably wont help that much (if at all).

And the Coax's do have built-on crossovers.

Just take your Polks and put them in the rear then go buy the Polk db5251 component set for under $150 and there you go. I have the same speakers and they sound great, get you a nice amp for the speaks as well, I use Kicker ZX200.4 in both my F150's for the doors.

In the rear I have kicker speakers that arnt great but work and will take a pouding. In the front I have Focal Componets (not the kevlar ones, lol). They are amazing. IMO the upgrade to componets was worth it.
