System Evaluation

I have (Not installed yet)

Factory Audiophile HU
FRD04 Ipod Interface
Polk db571 in front stage and rear stage
JL Stealthbox
JL 500 1v1
50sqft fat mat just on the 4 doors of the Screw
4awg monster cable power wire

So far I have :

Fatmatted the doors and installed the 571's.

Built a amp rack for the 500/1

Thats is it so far....the other stuff is just sitting here in the floor.

My little girls ride with me all the time......so the bass **** will be installed !

Any other ideas.... Do you guys think I will want another amp for the mids and highs? Do you think that I will need another HU? I love the absolute 100%stock look and the steering wheel controls... I dont really want to give it up unless you guys think that I would benefit a ton by upgrading. The floor has been opened for suggestions.........I used to install car audio about 10 years ago and I have been completely out of the loop since then!! HELP!!

Since I posted the above topic, I have realized that my factory Audiophile HU is not gonna cut it.

Because :
Not enough power to the DB571's.
Does not send a full range signal to the drivers.
The ford pre-programmed staging is funky
Cannot get equal power to all four door speakers without horrible sound

Soooo does anyone have any suggestions for a good double din HU with the ability of keeping steering wheel controls and iphone 3G capable. The PIE FRD04 that I have now does not charge the Iphone 3g's battery, like it did on my older 30gb ipod video. Is there an affordable double din HU with those abilities ?

I know that there is an adapter out made by scosche that is supposed to fix the charging issue.

Anyone???

You could keep your Audiophile HU and get an OEM Interface. JL audio makes the CleanSweep. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...php?page_id=94

I would amp the mids and highs. It will sound a lot better.

I agree, but I'd go with an RF 3Sixty over the CleanSweep. Low_E_Red put me on to it last summer, and I haven't looked back since.

Look into the Pioneer avh-p3100dvd. They can be had for under $400 online. (do a google search under shopping)

You would go for the p3100dvd over the p4000dvd? Besides the screen size what else is different?

You beat me to it!!!

Let me tell you. The 3 Sixty is WELL worth it, even if you already have an aftermarket HU. Hell, the 3Sixty.1 gives more bands of equalization than probably 80% of the HU's out there and the 3Sixty.2 blows away just about anything not considered a "SQ" headunit. We're talking time alignment, individual speaker EQ'ing, like 30+ bands of equalization.

You can have the multimedia capabilities of your double-din DVD player with the sound processing of a PRS-880.

I was on the fence as well, but I'm glad I bit the bullet and just listened to Low_E_Red when he told me. I originally bought it for OEM integration, but now I use it with my AVH-4100DVD and I've got the best of both worlds.

In case you can't tell, I'm now a believer, lol.

True, thats me.

Im running a RF RFX-9200 followed by a RF 3Sixty.2 for the moment. I change HU's more than I change my oil.

All I have to say is that.....replacing my H/U was the best thing I have done to my entire system. I just installed a p3100DVD let me just say WOW! it woke up those Polk speakers...I thought they sounded good before ! WOW 2000% improvement. That stealthbox still amazes me.

I like it that I do not have to go out and spend another 40 bucks on an ipod interface cable. I am just using the usb cable that came with my Iphone 3g and plugging it right in!...and voila!!!!!I have all of the controls right on the Pioneer screen... I saved 40 bucks!!If for so reason I accidently leave the usb at home..I always have the 3.5mm plug right up front..too Just an aux input no control...who cares I can use this when I an running streaming audio off of my iphone....It is safe to say that the HU is better then expected.
