newb

just finished installing a jl500/1,with a box under back seat, the speakers are PIONEER PREMIER FLATS S1000. now i have only ever been a fan of pioneer for its h units, this is the first time using their speakers..there is absolutly nothing wrong with these subs, especially in a pickup. i was shocked when i first turned them on, even with all eq settings on 0 and loudness at high the speakers rocked all the way up 60 on the volume. i have the amp gain set about 3/8 up not much, but it is a bad a$$ amp. the door speakers broke up before the subs did.. if anyone is wondering, PIONEERS PREMIER speakers are fine for a pickup truck, there are 2 reasons, quality freak of an amp and a top of the line HU. dont get me wrong in an suv or a car i would prolly push em right out of the box needing more sound, they are clear and loud in the truck, so i will use em and abuse em. for the price i recommend.

why do u say that low e? they sound fine. be sure u kno that i am not one of the morons that like to argue, or speak just for fun. i am telling u they sound fine, i am picky, they made me a believer, now as far as durability, that is yet to be proven, the sound quality is there

I just really beg to differ on that. Ive had a decent bit of experience with the PNR shallows. They really arent a decent driver IMO. (Not trying to be a douche) Have you had a lot of experience with subs?

I tried for hours to get my friend's 12" pioneer shallow 12 to sound decent and I couldn't. They just aren't quality drivers. Period.

If you've ever heard a high quality subwoofer to compare you would know what I mean.

listen did u read my post? they are tens. first off, second i usually use only jl audio subs, i have talked about that in other threads and u both have replied. i have heard and destroyed quality subs, i have had my w3s for five years in my suv, i have always had systems, all the way back to my first car, i had 2 kiker 10,s and an autotech amp, that was 19 yrs ago, so like i mentioned b4, i dont kno about their quality,, i just installed them, they do sound good,,, and i have heard better, like my jls,, the premier sound good, for the price of a bill each, we will see how long they last...i have plenty of experience with sound systems to kno what sounds good, besides how much quality can u get for a bill anyway. so dont get me wrong u all have good input, and are good to ask an install question. i have the speakers in my truck, they sound fine. if it makes u happy i can go crank em nonstop and lets see what it takes to launch em right off the magnet, they are under warranty...

Nah, I'd much rather see them Klippel tested.

thats funny. with the space concern i wanted to try the premier. the jl 10w1 is an entry level sub that is made in china ,so i figured it cant be the greatest, (the premeir, some sound guys said they are better than the 10 w1,) i am neutral on that statement. havnt heard the 10w1... i am gonna abuse em see how they go. when the sq fails, i will prolly go with the t5. till the next time
