ok, i am looking for subs,did some browsing today,,i have an 07 f150 screw fx4. at the stereo shop they said either 2 10w1 jl with a 300/1amp,, then he strongly suggested the premier flat speakers with the 300/1..... he said the pioneers would out sound the w1.......i told em i would research it, so lets have some feedback and opinions...

 

you mean the 300/2 right?
eh, i havent heard the Pioneer flat, but i would guess that a 300 watt, regular sized sub would beat a 250 watt flat sub.

 

The JL w1 is a decent sounding subwoofer, not amazing.

It sounds about 10x better than the pioneer shallows.

Pioneer shallows are garbage. If you want a good shallow look into Exile Audio.

 

or if you have a million dollars, the JL TW5

 

tw5 is a whopper 400 each, not for today, i guessed the jl would be better, i cant understand why the shop said the pioneers sound better, also what is the diff between the 2 pioneer flats ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Pioneer Premier TS-SW1041D 10"1000w 4 ohm

The Poineer 1041D was replaced by the 1001S4. The 1001s4 can handle a little more power and has a little higher sensitivity and newer looks.

 

cool after more research, this is what i decided...2 pioneer 1001s4 pioneer and a 500/1 jl amp. 2 things i went with the bigger amp sisce i got a great price because they are on sale 370.00 from an authorized dealer,i figure and looked that most any other decent amp is 175.00 so the extra loot for the jl to me is worth it, especially since im dealing with a variety of speakers that arent the greatest to be able to fine tune the ranges on the amp is worth it, and some more proof that the pioneer speakers arent bad, so i will put it to rest tomorrow
when i get em in there, i am waiting on the box. the w1,s are an entry level plain speaker, they arent even made in the usa they farm those out,, i will post a thread when done.... besides with the bigger amp if i want to upgrade later to t5 i can
