Box Question
Box Question
I have gone through about 4 prefab boxes and my subs just tear them up, and then they get air leaks and rattle pretty bad......
Any suggestions on what a good solution would be?? or a different kind of box of some sort
any suggestions are welcome!

I made a box (sealed enclosure) for my buddy's boat out of 3/4 mdf and sealed it with regular silicone and stuck about three or four screws in each section of the box to hold it together and never had a problem. It housed a Kicker 12L7 w/ Kicker 700watt mono amp and that thing freakin POUNDED. And trust me we abused the hell out of it!
I really doubt you're busting MDF enclosures with 500 watts and low excursion subs...but I could be wrong.
Stop buying crappy cheap prefab boxes and if you have some carpentry skills make a good one, or pay someone who knows what they are doing to make a good one.

I recently bought a box for my two 10' T1 Rockfords from SupercrewSound.com. I'm pushing them with an old punch1000 amp that I had layin around. The box seems to be holding up great so far. They sell two different boxes on the website for the '04-'08 Screw. One box requires an LMI seatlift and the other doesn't. I bought the one that required a seatlift only because I needed the airspace. I have a buddy that bought the smaller one but just sold his truck. It's never been used and only needs the terminals. He might be willing to sell it if you're interested.
Supercrewsound.com is the exception to the rule of prefab boxes. If you have no carpentry skills or the time and you get no gratification on doing things yourself , they can build a decent box.
4x8 sheet MDF Home Depot or Lowes 15 bucks
Wood screws 3 bucks
wood glue 2 bucks
silicone 2 bucks
Use the sub box design that so many are using on here and you are done ! I have done it a hundred times. Piece of cake.

Just an FYI, my 49" x 97" sheet of 3/4" MDF was like $24 at Home Depot. Not sure if it is way overpriced here or what but I had to throw that in, lol. PS, why is the sheet not a true 4by8, instead it is 1" longer in each direction, to account for how easily damaged it is? Not sure. /end ramble
MDF is a complete pressed board thats always been sold like that. I think it was to account for the shrinkage when the glue dried back in the beginning.
Its always 24 here. If its 15 there, Im moving.
