Not much of a point to unless you can aim them up. I'd only do that if I had a descent headunit/dsp to adjust timing. Which I do, but I don't think the benefit is big enough to cut the panels up.

Why would you mount them like that and not behind the door panel. Is your panel not vented there for tweeters?

jmmorgan82,
Was thinking about putting mine there as well. How does that piece come off? Did it interfere with the defrost vent?

My Edge pod sits in the area to mount them by window. I was looking at mounting them like in my first post because the tweeters are 1" and the flush mount has a 1/4" collar all the way around so they won't fit inside the door. I can dremel out the hole to make the tweeter fit but the collar won't fit. without trimming it as well. I did see anothe pic where they notched out the top part of the stock location so the collar could tuck up inside there. I just can't find that pic now.

You have to take the whole door panel off. It's just a matter of a few screws and bolts, remove the speaker, and lifting. They didn't interfere with the defrost vents at all in the location I installed them (reason I put em there). that was also the flattest spot I could see for a good mount.
