Audiophile Sub Help
Audiophile Sub Help
Hey guys, new to this forum. I recently purchased a working audiophile subwoofer off of a friend for my 2006 F150 XLT. I have the 6 disc MP3 head unit and was wondering if anyone knows if the wiring allready exists the truck for this? I know the sound isn't the greatest, but its a sub and I have been misisng it. Is it as simple as plug and listen? Any idea/pictures of the location of the wiring for this sub? I pulled the door sill apart to look for some wiring, but wondering if its a wild goose chase to find the existing wiring.
Thanks

if you have it it will be under the carpet on the drivers side rear seat. The other end will be attached to a brace or wiring harness behind the radio. Not all trucks have it but if yours doesnt you can buy it but its kinda pricey.
I'm also doing the same thing. I have taken my factory 6/cd/mp3 factory radio out to see if it was a Audiophile unit, and of course it wasn't. I just bought a factory Audiophile 6/cd/mp3 and also a the factory Audiophile subwoofer off of ebay. It's coming tomorrow. I will be starting this week to hook it all up. Have you started your project yet?
Also from what i've been reading about the wiring is. The wire for the sub if you have it is tided back on the actual wiring harness behind the radio, as for the sub, the wiring is under the rear seat on the drivers side, there will be a slit in the carpet, it's suppose to be under there if you have it. Good luck to the both of us in this project. Al
FWIW-My 08 is a Lariat and did not have the audiophile option so I added a Saleen Subwoofer and amp which I also got off ebay, direct fit, perfect sound, great price, the reason I mention this is when I went to hook up this sub I never found any harness near the slit in the carpet cause that is where I had to run the new harness that came with the Saleen Sub. YMMV, good luck.
One way to find out is to take your radio out and on the main radio harness, if there is a subwoofer harness, there will be a connector tapped back onto the harness. Then you will have the other end of the harness under the rear seat ready to go. It's there for sure. Go under your rear seat drivers side on the inside of the front bracket of the rear seat. Work your way to the back of the cab to where the floor starts to rise towards the back, (on the upper level) you will feel a cable looped, thats it. You won't be able to pull it out because It is held down by a plug into the floor. You need to pop that plug up and out so you can free the wire harness. There is at least a foot or so extra for you to hook it up. Mine is all in and sounds great! Cheers Al
Found out that I do not have the subwoofer harness. Now i have a subwoofer and box that I am going to install the old fashion way. Also found out that there are 3 radios that look the same. All 3 are 6 disc in dash MP3, only 1 has the subwoofer harness. Best answer I got all day was to call local Ford parts dept and ask them, they ran my VIN and told me what I had. I'll let you know when I decide how to handle this.
Thanks for the help.

I have the NAV factory H/U which was stock with my '08 King Ranch, and even though I have the subwoofer plugged in (I think, all 3 holes are plugged in), the subwoofer doesn't work (recently purchased of of ebay). I don't understand why the sub doesn't work.
