OK I know absolutely nothing about Subs and Amps.
I would like to get a fairly reasonable Sub and Amp for my 08 XLT Screw.
I only want to spend $300.00-$400.00 bucks max.
I will be getting 2 sets of Boston Acoustics SL80's to go with them.
Give me some good cheap ideas please!

I dont remember if Polk is still in the Subwoofer bis but dude I had a system setup one time with two Polk 12s and just a small Blapunkt amp. It was amazing took so much abuse for so long. I put Eclipse speakers all four of the Scabs doors and I am so dissapointed with them, I know that they are underpowered tho I really dont have much room to talk. I sometimes though that if I would just take the time to venture out of the norm and get a brand different than everyone else I could make a Great system. I have since burried that Idea, Rockford are unbeatable there just greatly produced and just tons of information and advancements are made on there stuff. Alpine would be a rather expensive route, Kickers are going to be my next speaker set up, just another company who mass produces speakers and put tons of money into research and development. I would just get on www.crutchfield.com and do some researching, find a set of speakers sometimes they got good sales at Bestbuy, or Circuit city etc. Go to the specs and find the RMS's and then hit up the amps spec them down and find you a amp that will push within the mid range of the subs RMS. If your going with one sub get a mono amp, if your going with two subs get one that will bridge etc. It will say what they will push for 2 or 3 or 4 watever subs RMS. Make sure you got a good headunit if your going to sink some cash into a sub/amp get the most out of your equipment, by using a good unit.
I do not know the stock headunits specs, I know that my buddies FX4 has a factory sub setup and it sounds nice. Most amps worth there weight will have a seperate amp controller to assist you with some better tuning. I was looking at RF and the punchs are around 200RMS you can find a good amp and that punch for under 300 bucks all day long.
I was at Bestbuy a few weeks ago they had the Punch 1's on sale for like 88 bucks! It would be a good sub for great sound without shaking your windows out.
Do you have a idea of what box your going to use? Under the seat? I was on a website that was saved on my old pc that had a Awesome Box that sat between the back two seats right there on the 3rd person area. It almost looked like the center console in the FX4s but for the rear. I mean 4 ppl can still ride comfy and they got a nice arm rest in the back. But my son threw that outta the window lol, well for now!
How far you live from Ft. Riley?

Sounds good, Riley was about 2 hours from KC trust me I know lol I have never left somewhere so fast in my life, nah but sometimes i really miss Kansas. Theres places there that in the spring and fall times are really really soothing. Well like I said try Fosgate Punch 1 and amp you will be under 300 easily and with a box and amp kit under 400 if ya do it right! Good luck
