Rhino Lining on Inside of Box?

I am about to start on a box for 2 10's to go under my seat and i have a friend that runs the local Rhino Lining shop and he said he could Rhino line the inside of the box for free. Would this help make to box sound better? Good idea or bad idea?

have him do the outside. That will really stiffen the box up.

Rhino Lining does act like a Sound deadener , so yes it would work for the inside of a speaker box .

Yea I was thinking about having him do the outside. I think I'll pass on having the inside done. One more question...which would sound better 2 8inch subs or 1 10inch?

It also helps seal the box.

That depends on so many things you'll never know the answer without trying both.

But...two 8" woofers would have more cone area, all else being equal. So they would have the potential to get louder. Also more wiring configurations, allowing you to get the most from your amplifier. However, it is possible they wont have the low end punch of a single 10" woofer. There are mounting depth considerations, available airspace, ect.

What subs are you going with?

I have used "real" bedliner on the outside of 2 speaker boxes. I had one in my Ranger with a single 10 and I'm using one now in my f150 for a single 10. I think it would sound better either way you do it. If your box is sealed, it should help seal it better and sorta deaden it.

Not trying to thread jack, but I don't feel that this would warrant starting a new thread and it is along the same lines as this.

But what would putting sound dampening matt inside a sub box do? I was thinking about this while reading the steps on how to sound deaden a door. If they are having you place extra material behind the driver to help sound quality would sound dampening the inside of the box plus an extra layer directly behind the driver do any good?

Again sorry for thread jack,

Ya, itll deaden the box a bit. Cant argue at all with lowering the Resonant frequency of ANYTHING in the vehicle.

IN AND OUT!

Off topic, I used to be friends with a guy that rhino lined a doughnut, 10yrs later it still sits on the front of the counter. You can line anything...

Originally I was going to make a box for 2 10's under my seat, but I don't want a seat lift. I'm afraid that if I do this without the lift there won't be enough airspace and the subs will sound *****ty. My current design gives about 1.62 cu. ft. with about 6" mounting depth. So if I go with the 2 8's, then I'll get the Kicker CompVR. But I have no clue which 10" sub to go with.

That is pretty darn funny. And yes you definately can rhino line anything. My friend told me he had a guy a couple weeks ago that brought a brand new 08 Ram in and had him Rhino line the whole thing black because the guy said he hates to wash cars.

Just my opinion , but i would Spray the inside of the box and Vinyl or Carpet the outside . To me , Rhino Lining on the outside would not look good in a vehicle . But like I said , thats just me .
