Alpine MRP-M1000 too much for 2 Image Dynamics ID10D2 v.3 subs?

I bought two Image Dynamics ID10D2 v.3 10 inch subwoofers and the extended cab box from SuperCrewSound. The subs are dual 2 ohm so I can wire them to have a 2 ohm load on my amp. The subs are rated at 50-400 watts RMS each and the Alpine MRP-M1000 amp I am planning on powering them with puts out 1000 watts RMS at 2 ohms. Will this overpower my subwoofers and cause me trouble in the long run? Should I look for a smaller amp in the 600-800 RMS range? I feel like that Alpine M-1000 is a good bang for my buck but I just don't want to blow my subs by overpowering them. I will be giving them 1000 watts RMS when they are rated for a maximum of 800 watts RMS. I know I will have to keep the gain very low on that amp but will that be enough to not damage the subs? Thanks a lot for any advice!

If you end up wanting to down-size, I've got an Alpine MRP-M650 (600w RMS x1 @ 1 and 2 ohms, 400w x1 @ 4 ohms) that I would be interested in trading + some money for your MRP-M1000. It's about four months old.

Let me know!

Depending on if you do the seat lift or not your sub choices are somewhat limited because of mounting depth. It depends on how much you want to spend but Elemental Designs subs and the Image Dynamics subs are a good bang for your buck and many of them will fit under your seat. I originally wanted Alpine Type Rs but they wouldn't fit so I found the Image Dynamics and I think I will be just as happy with them if not happier.

I will let you know if I decide to downgrade but right now I am trying to get some opinions before I do that. I am pretty sure I will be fine with the MRP-1000 if I keep the gains low and it is usually better to have a little extra power than not enough as long as you are careful with it. I just want to get some confirmation opinions of my assumptions though. Thanks for the offer and I will let you know if I decide I want to swap.

you will be totally fine with the m1000
dont bother to downgrade, just keep the gains right and you will be fine
it'll give you a little headroom, which is better than not having enough power to run them at full potential...definitely not worth selling and buying a new amp

The higher power amp is fine. Frankly its better. Your amp will not have as hard a time getting the speakers to their full potential = less heat/stress.

I guess this is maybe because I am 42 years old but... My little coustic amp 240 @ 1 into a 4 ohm load and my sony 1100 watt sub rated a 330 watts rms, ( had to lift the rear seat a little , this hits so hard in my supercrew that i think i would go deaf if I turned it up to much... it does work good to hush the wife up when she starts passenger seat driving .. I just turn it up and I cant hear a thing... ( I am using a single slant box under the seat, with homemade legs , sub firing down...
