Poly Fill and Sub

Ok I already searched and found a little info.. I got a 10 inch sub from my friends , son .. He just gave it to me .. there is no name on the subwoofer but it looks to have about a 60 or so oz magnet on it and it is single voice coil.. I told him my box was about .75 cubic feet of air space and he suggested I go to Walmart and buy about 1 lb of polyfill and to use just a little less than 1 lb in my enclosure.. Seems to me this would take up even more space in my enclosure.. ??

It would appear that the polyfill would take up some of the room in the box, but it effectivly makes the box act as if it were larger. The sound waves are slowed down but not overly distorted from what I have read, but I am no audio expert. How much room does the sub need?

[Ok The Clarion was a no go , Oh man it sounded like someone took a torch to the voice coil.. Now we are looking at the Lanzar.. .. We got the box all sealed up it is a slant box off of ebay but didnot appear to be sealed to tight so we caulked it .. We then mounted the sub ( Lanzar 10 inch ) But I dont think I have enough depth in the box.. So Project halted today.. Plus its raining in Mississippi so I guess we will start tommorrow.

From the looks of those pics, you need a shallow mount sub.

Yep ... shallow is what I was looking at ... You wouldn't believe the rip off at some of these stereo shops around here in Mississippi... And what a bunch of xxxholes that work there.. dang... I went and inquired about the shallow sub that is by Pioneer that I saw on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-TS-SW104...QQcmdZViewItem

99.00 shipped on Ebay , 179.00 at percision audio.. same sub... i asked if that was the installed price and he said .. install is an extra 100.00 .. So I said well I can get one off of ebay for 99.00 shipped ... OMG he went off about how ebay sells junk and all kind of cussing and stuff. Well any way I ordered the pioneer ... from ebay... but for the time being I installed a Lanzar 10 ( used ) from my friends son.. We are going to put it in today in the slanted box .. Until I get back from out of town,,, I also thought about getting the Calvin peeing on Percision audio sticker made ,,, what a bunch of TOOLS, they are..

Thats not a ripoff at all. Its retail. Id of done the exact same thing.

By the way Fleabay is horrible to buy Car audio from. There is a saying buying twice from ebay equals buying correctly at a shop once.

I stopped into the precision audio store again yesterday.. We had a long talk .. The guy that owns the place is well into his 50's.. So as we were talking I all of a sudden felt my age (42 years old ) He first asked me what I liked better DVD Movies or Just Music.. He also listened to my concerns over his prices.. so he made me a heck of a deal on some stuff and I will probably shop there.. i havent bought anything yet but he basically told me to keep the Sony Sub , Keep the coustic amp, ditch the pioneer amp and get a good 4 channel amp, then he gave me a heck of a deal on a dvd unit
Pioneer AVH P5700DVD
499.00 Installed
This will be my Christmas ..
