How to install component speakers

I want to get a set of components for my two forward speakers..I havent taken off my door panels yet but I can see a smaller hole just above the arm rests (looks like a tweeter could fit in there). But If I wanted to get a set of comps, what size do I get and do they just bolt right it? and will any tweeter fit in that smaller hole? what size? thanks for any info

I just put some Alpine's in my doors. The hole you are referring to was too small for the tweets, so I had to widen it. I got the 6.5" to fit in the stock place with a little persuasion.

Mount the tweeters on the A-pillars or sail panels. Raises the sound stage and sounds a ton better than in the stock location IMO.

so If I get the 6.5's, will they just bolt in with gaps on the sides? isnt that bad for the sound quality...actually I don't think that matters cause its a door...but idk. do you have the model number of your alpines? at least I know they fit in yours so they have to fit in mine haha.

but will the tweeters fit no problem after you widen the hole and you put the plastics back on the door? how did you modify the 6.5" to fit in a 6x8 spot?

I'm actually buying some new Alpine Type-S components and coaxials in the morning. 6.5's front and rear. The best way to put a 6.5" in there is to build an adapter.

Just bought the new speakers!! I didn't go with the Alpine's, though. Low e Red, you might like this. I picked up some Hertz ESK 165 components for the front and Hertz ECX 570 coaxials for the rear. Can't wait to put 'em in! It's raining and my garage is full of crap. I'll post some pics of the install when I get to do it.

Well, just got their Energy series. Plus I have a few friends that work at a stereo shop, so I only paid $190 for both front & rear!

Alright, here are some pics. Might I add, WWWOOOOOWWW!!!! They sound incredible! And their not even Hertz top of the line. Btw, I swapped from the 6.5" to the 5.25" because I didn't want to cut anything. They don't sound like 5.25" though.

I used 1/4" MDF

Rears, I forgot to take a pic before I put the panel back on.

wow man those look great! so did the tweeter just bolt right in without any modification? I want those speakers soo bad, do you reccomend any place in paticular that sells them for a decent price? I just recently purchased the 6x8 to 6.5" conversion plates so I can run them.

Sorry, I figured most people on already knew how. Plus I was excited to get them going.

The tweeters were smaller then the factory hole. Luckily, they came with a bracket to mount over bigger openings. The one thing I was disappointed with was the store was out of this years model so they gave me last years, which don't have an seperate x-over. It came with two in-line, one for the tweeter and one for the woofer. Sorry not very good at this. What else would you like to know?
