My lights dim.

Hi guys this is a simple question. When I have my my system going and the bass is pumping i can notice my lights dim a little bit. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks for any advice!

there's a thread going on in the amplifiers section on doing the big 3 upgrade to your electrical wiring for better electrical flow which is fairly cheap to do. Also you could get a smaller pulley for your factory alternator for like $15 online. Aside from that your options are getting a more powerful alternator then perhaps a secondary battery such as a batcap. What sort of audio equipment do you have?

Big 3 Upgrade and/or a Capacitor should do the trick.

i had the same problem tried a cap it worked ok but still dimmed a bit. so i took the capacitor out since i read a bunch of threads saying they dont work at all its more like a band-aid than a solution. so i did the big 3 used 1/0 wire nd problem solved no dimming and my voltage stays around 13.4-13.6 even with bass pounding. im hoping it will improve a bit when i replace this battery with a yellow top!! good luck and do the big 3!!
heres a link that can lead to many more on the "big 3"

I had the same problem on my 2000. I cleaned the batterry terminals and cables (soaked them in coke) just because i needed it and afterwards i noticed the lights no longer dim at peak. I'm not sayin this will work with you but it did on mine,

I had the same issues and when I went to 2 amps, I put a good cap in and the problem was solved.

The big 3 won't always fix that. The amps draw power...the cap helps.

I have an F250 now with big alternator and all that good stuff...so I don't run caps now and I have bigger amps.
