You have to visit the sub manufactures website or check the owners manual for the sub. Most all subs have required air space to make them perform at their best. Sealed enclosures are often much smaller than a ported box and offer a tighter sound compared to vented.

Most of the times the manus are actually wrong....

You really need to get a hold of someone who knows how to do the specific box tuning.

i just talked to the online chat at crutchfield and they told me what kenwood suggests for their box sizes for ported and sealed. the sealed specs for sealed box matches what i have right now in my hatchback box. so i guess i will try the ported one to see if they were right...if not, i will rebuild.

i have the KAC-6202. but i plan on upgrading soon so i am not sure if i will build this box yet or not. are all sub boxes around the same size? im planning on building under the back seat so i dont have much room to go bigger but i think i am going to do a seat lift so i thought that might give me enough room to do a ported box.
