Total Noob here

Ok so I know very very little about car audio, however I have been needing to upgrade my system a little bit. My plan is to get a HU, speakers(size?), maybe an amp, and maybe a sub. I have never installed this stuff so I am probaly just going to have circitcity or a local store do it. My question is what is the best for my budget (500-600). Im not looking to blow everyone away just looking for something that sounds good and I can get an aux plug for my iphone. Thanks for all the help!

Although a bit overpriced IMO... Crutchfield has some good information for people just starting to do their own audio. That and if you buy a stereo, you generally get the wiring harness and dash kit along with a spiffy sheet on how to dismantle your vehicle

Look, this is what I recommend for someone in your shoes.

Radio & 4 spks. See how that sounds then add a sub if need be.

Go to your local CCity and pick up two pair of Polk dB 571's. They are on sale all this month, Buy one get the second half off.

Spks (Polk dB 571) - 149 for 2 pair.
HU (Pioneer DEH-P4000UB) - 169
Radio install - .01
Parts - 50$
Spk install - 70$

That would be a very nice upgrade against stock.
