free air subs

free air subs

anyone have free air subs in their f150 or know what subs are free air compatible?

I'm confused. Free air generally refers to infinite baffle and only work in cars with the subs installed on the back deck or in a wall configuration. You can't just toss a sub on the seat and expect them to work worth a hoot if that's what you understood free air as. Anyways give us a ideal of what your looking to do.

why not be able to put a piece of wood with a 10" cutout and put spacers on the bottom to give it room?

no cause you need to have total separation of the front side of the speaker from the rear side. The sound waves from both sides have to be kept isolated from each other so they don't cancel each other out. Your only option in a truck is a box unless you want to get xtreme.
