What 6.5" components fit without cutting?
Just like the title, I want to put 6.5" components in the front door of my 07 without having to cut the door. By fitting I of course realize I'll have to use a 5x7 plate converter.
So far I know for a fact the Alpine Type R SPR-17S will fit. What other ones are short enough for a fact to fit with no cutting necessary?
I was dead set on going with the Phoenix Gold RSds but hear that they are too tall and I'd have to dremel out a bit. I appreciate the input guys!

Like you said, the alpines come with adapter plates and fit for sure. Im not sure what others would fit. Im putting my ID components in next week sometime, dunno if im gonna have to cut or not yet.
Like stated above, I have the SPR-17s and they do fit perfect.
An easy way to find out what others will fit would be to go to Alpines website and see just how big there 6.5's really are. Figure out what other sets you are interested in and go to their site and check out the specs. Im sure Alpine isnt the only company that gives exact measurements.
Here is some help...

Thanks Devildog. Quick question for ya if you don't mind. I'd prefer to just get the Alpine's but am concerned about power. The amp I intend to power them with is only rated at 100w RMS per channel and I've heard these are power hungry. A) are you happy with them and B) based on your experience will 100w per channel power them efficiently?
My main goal is to raise the sound stage from my floor by installing the tweeters and increasing mid-bass to bridge the gap between my current Type S 5x7s and my sub.
Thanks!

100 watts should be fine. I am only running 70 watts rms to mine and they sound great. LowE on here says that they really start to shine around 90 watts though. I have been looking for bigger amps lately but like I said, they already sound better than I hoped. I have used quite a few different sets of speakers and still really like these.
I was just up in NC a few weeks ago and could have gave you a listen. Day late and a dollar short huh...
Let me know if you need anything else.

Hey thanks a lot Devildog. I have ordered everything (speakers, amp and wiring kit) and will shoot for installing it next weekend. I had to go with 1/0 wiring which sucked but sobeit. This way I can just split it and run 4ga to each of my amps.
I'll let you know how it turns out with 100 watts (RF 400-2 Amp) and hit ya up with any questions if they come up.
Thanks again!
