well ive never ported a box before, but i need more bass and my square box(13x13x12.5) has way too much cancelation in it

i have a alpine type r 12(the new model 500rms/1500peak dual 4ohm) wired in parallel with an mtx 4002 amp (true 500@2ohm rms)

ok so im thinking of just making the ported box to alpines specs18x13.5x16.5 with a net volume of 1.3 cuft with a 1.25x12x22.75 vent

now im making a fiberglass console but that will take quite a while to finish but considering modifying thier design keeping the same volumes and vent but different external shape so that i can slide this console over it and just be done with it or should i make the box they suggest and then just port the fiberglass console?

also does the port have to be on the baffle? or can it go out the side? what about downfireing?

 

port can go out anyside. But out the baffle will give a slight increase.

Ill figure the specs out one day. We just need to talkfirst.
