Very Small Box Question

So my friend has sitting in his garage a 10 inch sub that is mounted in a very small box. I took it and put it underneath the rear seat passenger side to see if it fit. It fit perfectly under the seat. To me it seems like a box this small would not have nearly enough air space for the sub. How effective could a sub like this even be. By the way i have a 2003 supercab and the seat it was under was the individual one, not the two person part that flips up.

it totally depends on how big the box is supposed to be. i have a high wattage 12 that looks like it would need a huge box, but the manufacturer recommends only a 1 cubic foot box.
what is the sub?

What sub is it (make and model) and how big is the box...that is the only way to tell if it is right or not.

i work for a car audio store........ the thing aobut ford trucks (old body style) the space for subs SUCK!! and is the worst out of al lthe trucks....im guessing it is a sealed box becasue a ported box for that would be way bigger and custom if i tfit under your seat....the thing aobut a sealed box is it makes the sub require minimal space and yet lets it hit so many more frequecies than a ported box...the BIGGEST and most powerful of subs require around a square foot of room for a sealed application....if your box is a pre made one and not a custom one then i know EXACTLY which one you have because it is the ONLY one that fits under your seat....since it is a ten inch sub i can almost guarentee you that it has enough space to perform to its full potential....giving if you are a bass head then you probably wont be satysfied with one ten but it will give you a substantial amount of bass hooked up to the proper amp....and if it is a 2 ohm sub you will get more bass as well....4 ohm is better sound quality...i recommend a 2 ohm

Ok So he said it was JL W6 sub (10 inch) I am still trying to find more details on it, but I bet mark knows the sub box I am talking about since it is a pre made one.

I believe it is somewhat similar to this
http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Sub..._SUPERCREW.htm

I have seen single sub boxes that go under the seat, but also extend to the middle section of the seat, this one is exactly like that except confined to only under 1 seat and not the middle section of the seat.

.7 ft^3 is actually just a touch bigger than JL recommends for the sub, so you should be ok

.7 would have a Q of .78 a little smaller than perfect but still WELL withing where it should be. .971 cuft would be a perfect .707 q

well harder than sealed to tune at least...agreed? lol....um yea i know that box and youll be fine with it...if possible its always good to get a custom box thats made for the sub but with the box comes $$...you can do it yourself...but that box you showed should work to your satisfaction...what amp are you putting on it
